Interplay of universality classes in a three-dimensional Yukawa model.

چکیده
We investigate numerically on the lattice the interplay of universality classes of the threedimensional Yukawa model with U(1) chiral symmetry, using the Binder method of finite size scaling. At zero Yukawa coupling the scaling related to the magnetic Wilson–Fisher fixed point is confirmed. At sufficiently strong Yukawa coupling the dominance of the chiral fixed point associated with the 3D Gross–Neveu model is observed for various values of the coupling parameters, including infinite scalar selfcoupling. In both cases the Binder method works consistently in a broad range of lattice sizes. However, when the Yukawa coupling is decreased the finite size behavior gets complicated and the Binder method gives inconsistent results for different lattice sizes. This signals a cross-over between the universality classes of the two fixed points. ∗ Supported by BMBF and DFG. 2 E-mail address: [email protected] 3 E-mail address: [email protected] 4 E-mail address: [email protected]

We use the epsilon expansion to explore a new universality class of second order quantum phase transitions associated with a four-dimensional Yukawa field theory coupled to a traceless Hermitean matrix scalar field. We argue that this class includes four-fermi models in 2 < D < 4 dimensions with SU (N F) × U (N) symmetry and a
متن کاملThe massive Elko spinor field in the de Sitter braneworld model
The Elko spinor field is a spin 1/2 fermionic quantum field with a mass dimension introduced as a candidate of dark matter. In this work, we study the localization of Elko fields on a de Sitter thick brane constructed by a canonical or phantom scalar field. By presenting the mass-independent potentials of Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes in the corresponding Schrödinger equations, it is shown that the E...
متن کاملOn three-dimensional self-avoiding walk symmetry classes
In two dimensions the universality classes of self-avoiding walks (SAWs) on the square lattice, restricted by allowing only certain two-step configurations (TSCs) to occur within each walk, has been argued to be determined primarily by the symmetry of the set of allowed rules. In three dimensions early work tentatively found one (undirected) universality class different to that of unrestricted ...
متن کاملCritical exponents and equation of state of three-dimensional spin models
Three-dimensional spin models of the Ising and XY universality classes are studied by a combination of hightemperature expansions and Monte Carlo simulations. Critical exponents are determined to very high precision. Scaling amplitude ratios are computed via the critical equation of state. Our results are compared with other theoretical computations and with experiments, with special emphasis o...
متن کاملLarge top mixing from extra dimensions
Fermion mixing is conveniently described using the effective Lagrangian formalism. We apply this approach to study top mixing in models with an infinite tower of Kaluza-Klein fermion excitations. In the Randall-Sundrum background with a boundary Higgs and phenomenologically viable values of the model parameters, the only effect eventually observable is the loss of universality of the top coupli...
